SyncPad http://www.kstroke.com/projects/nerdy/syncpad.php Steve Song - kstroke@kstroke.com ============================= Installation ============================= OS: Windows Google Desktop Version: 3 Google Talk Version: 1.0.0.86 Host: a friend who's willing to be your host who also has Google Talk, Google Desktop, and this plug-in installed. Double-click SyncPad.msi to install the plug-in. Uninstall the plug-in through the Add or Remove Programs action in the Windows control panel. Or right-click on the msi file used to install and select "uninstall". ============================= Usage ============================= Click Options to type in your note, designate your host, and indicate whether you are willing to be a host for your friends. To have line breaks in your notes, type \n. Example: Entering "We represent\n\nthe lollipop guild \nthe lollipop guild." (without the quotes) yields the following display: -------------------- We represent the lollipop guild the lollipop guild. -------------------- Type in the email address of your host's GoogleTalk account into the Host field. If your host is logged into GoogleTalk, has this plug-in installed and added to his Sidebar, and has marked himself as "Available as host", your plug-in will synchronize its text with the one on the host. To synchronize your text across two different computers, your host must be online when you make your last change, and your host must be online from the same computer when you log in at your new location. You should first log off of GoogleTalk before logging in to GoogleTalk again at your new location. Be aware that funny things happen if you write in new text without first synchronizing with your host. Depending on the situation, you could overwrite the text that was saved on the host from your previous location, your changes at your new location could be replaced with the text saved on the host, or your text could stay the same locally while a different text is saved on the host. ============================= Known Issues ============================= Text has to be entered as one long string. There's nothing that can be done about this one in the scripting API. \n's disappear from the text entry area. It's ok, they still show up in the display area. The amount of text that you can store is limited to less than 32k. ============================= Version History ============================= v.1 - Created. Yay.
